GSL Group CEO, Graham Lee, first met Dean Kamen, the founder of FIRST Robotics, in 2014 on an XPRIZE trip, where they immediately bonded in their passion for science and innovation, particularly in promoting the development of artificial intelligence, robotics and technology.
Given the natural alignment of this unique robotics competition with GSL Group’s strategic focus on innovation, technology and community, Graham Lee was determined to bring the competition home as a catalyst to fostering innovation in Western Canada.
The initiative brings students together from across Western Canada, inspiring their pursuit for science, engineering, technology and robotics, as they engage in competitions that also develop their skills in problem solving, innovation, teamwork, ideation and scientific thinking.
As the Provincial Platinum Sponsor, GSL Group will host this inaugural event at its own Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, drawing students from all over BC and Alberta, with international teams coming from as far as Mexico for this exciting robotics competition. This is a unique opportunity for high school students excited about innovation, technology and robotics to gather together and pursue their passion in this very important industry sector.
