GSL GROUP STEPS FORWARD
AMIDST COVID-19 OUTBREAK

GSL Group, the developer and operator of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, is extending the use of their Victoria facility to BC Housing as a temporary emergency response centre to provide shelter for vulnerable individuals during the COVID-19 response.

Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is expected to begin housing next week and will provide 45 spaces that will provide each individual with a bed and privacy screens.

“Throughout the years the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre has served the community as both an entertainment venue and a facility for health and wellness through sport,” GSL Group President and CEO Graham S. Lee said. “As a member of this community we felt it imperative to be a part of the COVID-19 response. Providing our facility to vulnerable individuals to help stop the spread of this virus is the best way our facility can serve the community at this time.”

BC Housing has partnered with PHS Community Services Society to operate the temporary emergency response centre at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, which will receive people referred by Island Health and BC Housing. People at the centre will receive access to healthy meals and hygiene facilities.
